As international recognition of BLC Bank’s pioneering role in empowering women, Deputy Chairman and General Manager of BLC Bank Mr. Nadim Kassar took part in the UN WEPs Leadership Group meeting which took place on March 15 in New York.
This participation comes as a result of BLC Bank, represented by Mr. Kassar, joining the UN WEPs Leadership Group as one of 35 international actors coming from academic, corporate and non-profit backgrounds.
The Bank had previously signed the seven principles chart which aims at encouraging gender equality in the workplace. Mr. Kassar participated in a roundtable organized at the occasion of the sixty-first session on the establishment of the commission on the Status of Women.
During this get-together, the Gap Analysis Tool was launched aiming to bridge the existing economic gender gap on which Mr. Kassar consulted during his participation in last year's LG meeting in New York.
The Gap Analysis Tool can help companies evaluate their performance, identify gaps and work on eliminating them and provide opportunities in the development of gender equality related programs.
Through the We Initiative, BLC Bank was a pioneer in supporting women and is the only banking institution from Lebanon and the Middle East to be part of the Leadership Group, reflecting the Bank’s commitment to the empowerment of women in both the workplace and the economy.
Nadim Kassar values his participation in the Leadership Group’s meeting, "which adds value to Lebanon in general and to our bank in particular, through our presence on the highest international scene, the United Nations, to offer our experience and share our expertise in the area of support and empowerment of women."
He also added “our commitment and achievements will help shed the light on Lebanese women and their capacities which have led them to excel in numerous domains whether economic, financial or social”.
